Three movies and a book.
 | Au-delà des cimes by Rémy Tézier, March 18, 2009.
Catherine Destivelle in a groundbreaking deptiction of what Chamonix is all about. This is how it feels to be there, this is why we return.
|
As shown in the dvd extras, the making of this movie also broke rules of ethics, using numerous drilled bolts for the camera team and shuttling the area with helicopters. Though on screen everything remains peacful, every breath is heard, no human impact seen. Obviously Rémy Tézier understands the importance of spurlös ferdsel - whilst compromizing it. | Patanonian Winter featuring Andy Kirkpatrick and Ian Parnell, spending their holiday in a puddle under a huge rock, eventually returning back home.
This movie is part of the dvd Psyche by Alastair Lee on Posing Productions.

Andy Kirkpatrick's monologue by the slackline is a hilarious contrast to most pompous climbing movies. Self-distance is rare in climbing. Ian, we love you.
"Slacklining - you just have to imagine that you are the line. And the slack is the space around you. And you are drawing in the slack. And the line is flowing like a river. Across like a mountain. Like a rainbow. And the rainbow - where is it going? It's going from one place to another. And so am I. And I'm like the line. And the line is a rainbow." | Beyond the Mountain by Steve House, Patagonia 2009.
What a relief to learn even super-alpinist have wanker feelings.
|
Steve House going through the gear he and partner Vince Anderson used on their alpine-style first ascent of the Rupal Face of Nanga Parbat in September, 2005. By Patagonia 2007.
 | Nordwand by Philipp Stölzl, dvd since April, 2009.
Wir müssen umkehren! This is not a climbing movie so much as a dülfer abseil movie. Go for the orginal German version (without the impertinent swastika). All the shouting is lost in the wind anyway.
